Pavilions

Set in a wooded landscape, this house is composed of a group of separate structures connected on the ground level, and linked by bridges and terraces above. Operating like a set of tree houses, each level offers a different experience of the outdoors. The living levels on the first floor are connected to the earth and embedded in a dark stone base. The upper bedroom level (including library, den, and media room) is constructed of wood and glass, and seems to float above the ground.  Sloped roof planes cap each structure, with clerestory windows allowing expansive views of trees and sky. Large overhangs create shade on full-glass walls, and serve to drain rainwater into cisterns below.
